Writing 4 Wellbeing in Nature provides therapeutic writing workshops
connecting mindful practice, nature, poetry prompts, and relaxation techniques to nurture creativity.
Writing 4 Wellbeing
Each session will have an opportunity for social connection, an element of mindfulness, immersive observation of nature, introduction to the work of established poets from around the world (handouts and readings). These will then be used for several writing prompts, accessible to all levels of writing skill and experience. Participants can write in rhyme, short prose pieces/flash fiction, free verse poetry, or just notes and lines they wish to share. There will be time to share new writing and an opportunity for a group poem.

I’ve learned that all poetry doesn’t have to rhyme. I thought it would be difficult but once I started writing the words came easy. This helped me come to terms with some of the negative experiences I’ve recently encountered in life that I thought I’d previously resolved. Thank you very much, I thoroughly enjoyed the course, especially the box breathing. I look forward to putting my learning into practice. My Wednesdays won’t be the same anymore!
I feel like taking part in this programme has been definitely helpful for my wellbeing.

‘Thank you a lot for organizing and inviting me to such an incredible experience.
I truly enjoyed the company, writing, time in nature, and the realization that mainly all participants are my neighbours! In my opinion, community is vitally important for the well-being of citizens.’
You've done a great job as a host! Many thanks. ‘
‘The program has definitely benefited my wellness, I have been dealing with a lot of stress recently.
Being able to focus on the poetry and writing for a couple of hours on a Wednesday has really helped me to process my feelings and listening to the work of others has been inspiring also.’
Testimonial 3:
I learned how important neighbor's community support is for well-being. It brought me social support, a sense of belonging, safety, security, and cultural preservation. Additionally to that, we all shared similar interests, in terms of creative writing, which strengthened our bonding. Each session gave me the opportunity for the intersection of my inner world, state, and moods. I was given with opportunity to slow down, and I asked myself: How am I doing right now? Having written a couple of poems, after each session also gave me a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment. Last but not least, weekly two hours in nature tremendously helped my mental health. A few times I had anxiety attacks before classes, and each time I felt the healing support of nature.

Taking part in this programme has been definitely helpful to my wellbeing. It was a very safe space where I felt free to express even quite differing opinions. It was also fun.

I really valued coming together in community to write together, I loved the exercises where we were bouncing ideas about and I often came away feeling resourced and recharged. It felt good to take some time for myself each week and I enjoyed hearing the voices of others in the group.

I enjoyed being outside in general (but only because it was summer -and it was ok that it was raining once but would not enjoy if that was every week so if we have any more in autumn, a cover would be good.
It was great to view my well-being through a nature lens and make comparisons that way-it was inspiring springboard for my writing and poems and helped my self expression-I also loved to hear how others interpreted nature and themes-so yes it was lovely and lovely meeting others -a 9 out of 10 overall.Thank you
